Spring = Home Tours and Showcase Houses
Well, it is that time of year again.....the flowers are blooming, the skies are bright blue and the temperature is warming up. It is the time of year when Home Tours pop up all over the United States. I was just back in High Point North Carolina and had the privilege to tour the
Junior League Showhouse in Greensboro sponsored by Traditional Home which I will be showing you very soon!
And a little closer to home, it means we will soon be seeing lots of folks strolling through the historic Curtis Park neighborhood I live in attending the annual
Curtis Park Home and Garden Tour! For those of you in the area, it takes place this Saturday, April 27th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The houses in this neighborhood were built in the early 1900's through the 1940's for the most part (there are some new additions). The streets are shaded with either Elms or Sycamore trees, and the tour includes Craftsman Bungalows, Tudors and Mediterranean or Spanish style homes including the gardens.
Here is a reminder of some of what I saw during last year's tour....
We decided this would be our neighborhood before we even found a house after we saw the shady streets and met some of the friendly neighbors while house hunting over 20 years ago. Now we enjoy the yearly tour, not only to see the houses (which we are sort of obsessed with...lookyloos that we are) but also to connect with all of our neighbors and reconnect after the winter months of hibernation.
I always love to see the vintage cars parked in front of the houses on the tour....
The kitchen in this house was remodeled and included a copper farmhouse sink and copper counters....
And a copper hood over the range...
Such a whimsical door leading out to the patio....
That was a little peek from last year. And now, here are a few of the houses on this year's tour. A classic little Mediterranean....
A California Bungalow....
And a remodeled Cottage with Tudor elements, just to name a few....
As always, I can't wait to see everything and catch up with all the neighbors. I hope to see you there!!!
