Ruby + George

I have a soft spot in my heart for the name "Ruby". Years ago, one of my friend's 3 year old daughter insisted on calling my daughter Ruby, which is not her name.....but it stuck in our minds and we called my daughter Ruby whenever we were in a crazy mood.

So I received an email recently...and I get many emails, as we all do....but this one caught my attention. The name of a company was Ruby + George. So I opened it up and it felt like coming home. My mom had this fantastic place in New Mexico near Santa Fe when I was still in college and after. I would visit her whenever I had a break from school....I loved it there winter and summer. Mom collected Native American rugs, jewelry, art and just a lot of very cool stuff from all over New Mexico. Silver and turquoise is still my jewelry of choice. Last Summer we found ourselves exploring Las Cruces, New Mexico. For weeks after getting back home, I scanned the Real Estate listings for property in the area since it reminded me so much of Santa Fe before it became almost too expensive to consider.

So you can see why I had to check out every little thing I found on the Ruby + George website!

Ruby and George are a young and beautiful couple who are on an "adventure of passion and elegance". Who cares if they are purely fictional? They are a story conceived by the creator of Ruby + George, Ian Kennedy, to illustrate the idea that all of his wonderful finds can be shown much more convincingly in the context of those who live with them. He patterned this hip couple on his grandparents, Ruby and George Kennedy.....and so the story of this Modern American West begins.....
