Shopping: Lighten Up!

Whenever I need lighting for a project, I inevitably end up here: Lumens Light and Living. Some of you may already have heard of this very cool lighting resource. They do have a very strong web presence. But what you may not know is that the company started right here in Sacramento. And I am lucky enough to live about 5 minutes away from their flagship showroom.

I also got to see the start up of this very hip shop. You see, awhile back, I was working for a design company that had a specialty niche in lighting design. To best present lighting to clients, the owner had a modest lighting shop which specialized in contemporary light fixtures.  It was the only contemporary lighting shop in the Sacramento area for many years.

Eventually the shop was sold…. relocated to a bigger space….and has since evolved into it’s current stellar incarnation. The showroom carries a stunning display of the most up to the minute light fixtures, as well as rugs, and home accessories. 

They also have facilities for clients to do research, and for designers to hold client meetings in a private meeting  room. I usually make appointments with the knowledgeable staff to review plans and get the most up-to-date lighting information on things like new energy code requirements.

The showroom goes on and on. And if you can’t find what you need on the showroom floor, there is a library of lighting catalogues to peruse.
