JONATHAN RACHMAN HAS A SPRING IN HIS STEP!
There is one more week and weekend for you to see the the 2017 San Francisco Decorator Showcase! So no dillydallying! It is the 40th anniversary and as expected, this year there was much to see and inspiration around every corner. The Showcase House in Pacific Heights, San Francisco, is a grand Classical Revival mansion designed by Newsom and Newsom in 1904, and is quite the beauty! Many of the historic details are on full display, from the formal staircase, to the stained glass skylight in its center, the library's carved paneling to the plaster ceiling details in the living room.
So let's begin the tour!
When first entering the Living Room, one is enveloped in Springtime. Designer Jonathan Ranchman was inspired by April in Paris and the friendship between Audrey Hepburn and Hubert de Givenchy. What could be more indicative of Spring than fresh shades of green? Jonathan has fallen headlong into the meadow using the emerald and forest velvet covered chairs and sofa from Coup d'erat, mossy faux bois for the area rug by Stark Carpet, and a cool fern green for the de Gournay wall covering. One can almost smell the fresh cut grass......
Jonathan partnered with de Gournay who has provided a luscious hand painted wall covering with silk embroidered details which shimmer in the morning light.....
He has thought through every detail, from the tea party in the garden.....
......to the lovely chandelier by Boyd Lighting, and the gilded medallions he added to the plaster tracery on the ceiling......
The white modern side table by Ironies is a wonderful contrast to the traditional mirror from Antique and Art Exchange. It goes to prove Jonathan is a master of the mix......
There are so many more details to savor, and if you are lucky, you might just find Mr. Rachman in residence who would be gracious enough to welcome you in and show you even more of the treasures......
Many thanks to Jonathan for his wonderful hospitality and style. His smile will always be a welcome start to any Spring day!
Thank you also to all of the organizers and designers and vendors that contribute to this annual event. It takes a lot of people and lots of coordination to create this beautiful show of creativity and inspiration.
I hope you all can find the time to visit this year's Showcase! I will be showing off my tremendous photography skills in some upcoming posts, but truly, one cannot capture many of the designers' most impressive skills with a camera. It must be seen in person....
Especially in the magical Library! Which is next up! Stay tuned.....
