San Francisco Designer Showcase, Living Room and Study
After oohhhing and aaahhhing at the Front Hall at the
San Francisco Decorator Showcase, we walked into this gracious, elegant "City Salon" designed by Steve Henry and Michael Booth of
BAMO. These design duo have mixed traditional styles with unexpected modern elements, like the Platner coffee table and modern art that kick up the character volume.
Steve and Michael chose to cover the walls in between the existing wood work with a padded upholstery in a rich red wine color adding trim and nail heads just to add to the already opulent detail. I loved the toile table skirt on the central table, and how the color ties in with the wall color. The rest of the palette steers toward the ivory, citron and aqua hues. Beautiful!
The Moroccan rugs on top of the sisal carpet is sophisticated without being precious....
And who does not love a bouquet of Peonies.....
It was hard to leave, but we were on a mission to view four floors in under two hours. I have to say, we almost did not make it through!
So on to the Gentleman's Study next door. Geoffrey De Sousa and Robin Sussillo of
Geoffrey De Sousa Interior Design were inspired by the Legion of Honor exhibition entitled
"the Cult of Beauty: The Victorian Avant-Garde" (currently on exhibit through mid-June) in the design of this space.
One of the most striking elements in the space, besides the amazing geometric metal desk, is the
Timorous Beasties wallpaper. "William Morris on acid".
Geoffrey and Robin had the paper hand cut to continue up onto the vaulted ceiling as if the illustrated plants had just kept growing.....brilliant....
Many of the items in the space were bespoke designs , like the area rug by
Kyle Bunting, and the 1930's wing back chair....
And
John Pomp created a beautiful hand blown glass fixture above the desk....another example of the craftsmanship which defined the Aesthetic Movement.
Now back to that desk! It is by
Scala Luxury available through the
De Sousa Hughes Showroom, Spectacular!
There is more to come my friends....much more!
Get on over the the
Showcase in person. I cannot possible show you all of the details and ideas here!
