HOLIDAY QUIZ

This image is from the Artefact Design and Salvage shop in Sonoma California via California Home and Design Magazine. Three heads of Michaelangelo's David crowned with holiday greenery:

I found this quiz via Pigtown Design Blog and it is s great way to learn a little more about everyone! I hope you take it too, post to your blogs and pass it along:

1) Egg nog or hot chocolate? Hot chocolate....with marshmallows........definitely.

2)Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? He wraps them in special "Santa" paper that has not been used on any other presents. And the messages are written in a curiously "elfen" hand.

3) Colored lights on the tree/house or white? White.....and like Pigtown...no blinking.

4) Do you hang mistletoe? Absolutely everywhere. I carry some around with me....just in case.

5) When do you put your decorations up? Dec. 1 through Dec. 25th. It's never done.

6) What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Roast Beef with Yorkshire pudding.

7) Favorite holiday memory as a child? One of many: We would go to this house not far from our neighborhood in Pasadena, CA where a family would decorate to the nines. It was a Tudor that they made look just like a gingerbread house with big candy decorations and fake snow "frosting". The family would dress up and do a show in their front yard with Frosty the Snowman dancing with Mrs. Claus and Santa. They would give out warm gingerbread and sugar cookies and hot cidar. Magic to a 5 year old!

8) When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I've always known the truth about Santa: So he drinks a little too much spiked egg nog occasionally....so what?

9) Do you open a gift on Christams Eve? Only the Nordstrom boxes with pajamas in them.

10) How do you decorate your Christmas tree? White lights and lots of antique blown glass ornaments. I will have a second tree this year that will have Scandinavian straw ornaments and wooden toys.

11) Snow: love it or hate it? Love it! As long as I have a warm dry refuge.

12) Can you ice skate? I used to think so. That's all I'm going to say about that.

13) Do you remember your favorite gift? Yes: a pooka shell necklace when I was in 7th grade. Not sure why it was so important. Getting them was symbolic of some greater need I had growing up at the time I am sure. And I guess I am dating myself. Do you all even know what pooka shells are?

14) What's the most important thing about the holidays for you? Music...and lot's of it, all kinds, but I love the more traditional. And sharing with friends, family and those in need.

15) What is your favorite holiday dessert? Frosted sugar cookies and pumpkin pie.

16) What is your favorite holiday tradition? One of many: playing Handels' Halleluiah Chorus as my kids come down the stairs to open their presents, fireplace blazing, candles burning, tree lights shining. Seeing their faces is priceless. My Dad used to do this when I was growing up and it has always created a wonderful air of anticipation when we had to wait upstairs for my parents to "set the stage" and get everything ready.

17) What tops your tree? An angel in a gold paper gown with a wing that has been glued back on with care.

18) Which do you prefer, giving or receiving? As the Mom, I better like giving, or my job description needs to change.

19) What is your favorite Christmas song? Traditional: Handel's Messiah. Contemporary: Bing Crosby and David Bowie's Little Drummer Boy.

20) Candy Canes: Not crazy about eating them unless they are stirring a cup of hot chocolate or on top of Peppermint bark. But they should be the old fashioned kind and they should be used to decorate trees!

21) Favorite Christmas Movie: Musical Scrooge with Albert Finney

22) What do you leave for Santa: Cookies and milk...and carrots for the reindeer....and a big long Thank you note written by the kids. There have been some doozies over the years.

Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas NOW!
